International Food Exhibition |China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) Facilitates New "Global Shopping" Pattern

2025.04.03

With the continuous expansion of the China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) network and the increasing frequency of international routes at Yangluo Port, Wuhan has established an international multimodal transport service system that "connects Europe, covers Central Asia, links Japan and South Korea, and extends to ASEAN." Statistical data shows that high-quality goods from over 30 countries—spanning more than 120 categories and thousands of varieties—have entered the Wuhan market via this "Iron Silk Road," covering sectors such as grains and oils, alcoholic beverages. The International Food Exhibition will also offer you these products.

At the International Imported Goods Experience Store, shelves are stocked with a dazzling array of products: Belarusian wafers, Russian flour, Polish dairy products, Hungarian wine, French red wine, Armenian vodka, German coffee, and more. According to the store manager, certain items, particularly Polish milk, have been exceptionally popular. A recent shipment of 6,000 cartons sold out quickly, with daily sales averaging around 100 cartons.

Operational data from Hubei Port Hanou International reveals that since the first imported goods experience store opened in 2017, product categories have expanded from over 80 to more than 120, sourced from key countries and regions along the China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) route. In September 2024, Hubei's first China-Europe Railway Express bonded store commenced operations at Hankou Railway Station, further diversifying imported goods retail scenarios. Equipped with an RFID traceability system, the store allows customers to track logistics details in real time—for instance, Belgian caramel cookies took just 12 days to arrive from Antwerp to Wuhan. Additionally, beauty products sold under the "cross-border e-commerce bonded" model are priced over 15% lower than duty-free shops.

Notably, the China-Europe Railway Express (Wuhan) has established a stable two-way trade corridor. In 2024, the number of train trips increased by 48.7% year-on-year. Outbound shipments primarily carried photovoltaic modules, new energy vehicles, and other "new three" products, playing a vital role in projects such as Uzbekistan's photovoltaic power stations and Russian automobile assembly plants. Return trips were loaded with premium European consumer goods, distributed to the Yangtze River Delta region via Yangluo Port.

"The China-Europe Railway Express is not just a logistics channel but a complete international trade industrial chain," said a representative from Hubei Port Hanou International. "While enabling Wuhan residents to enjoy fresh, high-quality imported goods, it also helps 'Made in Wuhan' premium products reach global markets, creating a virtuous cycle in international trade."The International Food Exhibition will also contribute to the import and export trade.

Currently, Wuhan has developed a "1+2+N" imported goods sales network, comprising one bonded store, two international goods experience stores, and multiple high-speed rail sales points. Moving forward, with continued optimization of international logistics channels and innovation in consumption scenarios, Wuhan residents can look forward to an even more diverse and premium selection of global products.
