International Food Exhibition | Global Per Capita Meat Consumption and Forecast Data Analysis (2021-2031)

2025.03.17

According to data from the iiMedia Research Data Center (data.iimedia.cn), the global per capita meat consumption has been rising year by year, from 42.4 kilograms in 2021, and is expected to reach 43.7 kilograms by 2030. This trend indicates that despite global population growth and economic development, the demand for meat continues to increase.

The International Food Exhibition learned that from 2021 to 2025, the global per capita meat consumption is expected to increase by 0.1 to 0.2 kilograms annually, showing a stable growth trend. However, from 2025 to 2031, the growth rate is projected to slow down, with an annual increase of only 0.1 kilograms. This may be related to the growing global focus on healthy diets and sustainable development, which is slowing the growth of meat consumption.

It is worth noting that the forecast value for 2031 drops sharply to 35.6 kilograms, a stark contrast to the previous trend. This could be due to the increasing promotion and acceptance of meat substitutes (such as plant-based proteins) worldwide, leading to a decline in meat consumption.

Overall, the global per capita meat consumption is expected to remain on an upward trend over the next decade, but the growth rate will gradually slow down. By 2031, there may be a significant decline in meat consumption, which could be related to the global emphasis on healthy diets and sustainable development.
