International Food Exhibition | Chongqing-Produced Meat Canned Goods Make Their First Appearance in the Singaporean Market

2025.04.09

On the morning of March 10, the Chongqing-Xinjiang food trade cooperation reached a milestone. With the simultaneous whistle-blowing at the sub-venues in Hechuan District and Wanzhou District, the first batch of 19.5 tons of pork canned goods jointly produced by Chongqing Dejia Food and Chongqing Agricultural Investment Food Technology officially set off for Singapore. This move not only filled the gap in the Singaporean market for Chongqing-processed meat products but also demonstrated a new breakthrough in the international development of Chongqing enterprises.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Chongqing-Xinjiang economic and trade cooperation, Sun Xiyong, Deputy Director of the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce, pointed out: "This cooperation is a vivid practice of implementing the China-Singapore Strategic Connectivity Project. By innovating mechanisms to align Chongqing's high-quality agricultural products with international standards, it has set a new benchmark for regional economic and trade cooperation."

Innovative Mechanisms Boost Agricultural Products' Global Reach

To break through the export bottlenecks of agricultural products, Chongqing innovatively constructed a "core platform + diverse collaboration" system. This model, based on four pillars—establishing an international marketing network, improving the export service chain, strengthening logistics support, and cultivating brand value—integrates three major sectors: agricultural product trade, industrial upgrading, and technological empowerment. It has driven the collective export of specialty agricultural products from multiple districts and counties. Significant achievements have already been made in categories such as citrus fruits, tea, and plums. The International Food Exhibition also promotes the the export of Chinese food.

Targeting the high-end market demand in Singapore, Chongqing and Xinjiang have built a government-enterprise collaborative mechanism. By establishing special working groups in government departments, promoting strategic cooperation between industry associations in both regions, and jointly tackling challenges with multiple departments such as customs and market regulation, the focus has been on breaking through technical trade barriers.

Dual-Driven Approach Solves Export Challenges

In terms of standard alignment, special training sessions have been organized to enhance enterprises' international compliance capabilities. Expert teams have been dispatched to guide enterprises in optimizing production processes and assisting with international certifications. For example, after a comprehensive technological upgrade of its production line, Dejia Food became the first to meet Singapore's SS 668 cold chain management standard. The International Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

Innovative breakthroughs have been achieved in logistics and customs clearance:

1. Upgrading cold chain infrastructure and building a fully traceable system

2. Opening new land-sea multimodal transport routes and optimizing customs clearance processes for fresh and live products

3. Establishing a rapid certification mechanism and achieving mutual recognition of regulatory systems

Policy Bonuses Unleash Multiplier Effects

A relevant person in charge of Chongqing Customs stated that this certification breakthrough has a "one-time certification, universal sharing" demonstration effect. In the future, five major categories of canned products, including pork and poultry, can quickly obtain export qualifications, significantly reducing corporate compliance costs.

"Entering the Singaporean market is equivalent to obtaining a pass to the ASEAN market," said the person in charge of Dejia Food. "With special government support, this year's export volume is expected to break through the hundred-million-yuan mark." Agricultural Investment Food Technology expects that the Singapore channel will drive a stepwise increase in annual exports.

Sun Xiyong emphasized that the next step will be to deepen supply chain cooperation and guide enterprises to continuously enhance their international competitiveness. Relying on open platforms such as free trade zones, efforts will be accelerated to cultivate export-oriented industrial clusters, assisting Chongqing in building an international consumer center city and an inland open highland.
