Shaped by Nature, Shared with the World: Pakistan’s Natural Treasures at SIAL Shanghai

2025.04.14

From the mountains of northern Pakistan to the fertile plains shaped by the Indus River, this is a land known not just for its landscapes—but for its rich flavors and heartfelt hospitality. As the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) strengthens economic ties, it’s also bringing Pakistan’s food culture closer to the world. At SIAL Shanghai 2024, the Pakistan Pavilion shared the taste of natural gifts and proud harvests—and in 2025, the journey continues, deeper and more delicious.

2024 Highlights
A Fragrant Legacy: Basmati Rice from the Indus Plains

Often called the “queen of fragrant rice,” Basmati has been grown in Pakistan’s Punjab region for generations. With its long grains, gentle aroma, and soft bite, it’s more than just rice—it’s part of everyday meals and festive tables alike. At SIAL Shanghai 2024, K.K. Rice Mills, Al Wahab Rice Mills, and Jasons Commodities brought this heritage to the world stage. From field to fork, Pakistani Basmati carries the care of farmers, the richness of the land, and a flavor rooted in tradition.

Salt of the Earth: Himalayan Pink Salt
Formed over 250 million years ago in what was once an ancient seabed, Himalayan Pink Salt is not only one of the purest forms of salt—it’s a mineral map of deep geological history. Its rose-hued crystals contain natural minerals like calcium and magnesium, giving it both culinary and wellness value. Ghani Mines showcased this heritage product that even the simplest ingredients can carry millions of years of history.
