Food Exhibition | Indonesia's Fresh Coconuts Make Historic Debut in China, Fuzhou Pioneers New Agricultural Trade Chapter

2025.04.15

A landmark shipment of fresh Indonesian coconuts arrived at Fuzhou Changle International Airport on April 12, marking China's first official import of Indonesian young coconuts and injecting new vitality into bilateral economic cooperation. The Food Exhibition will offer more information about import and export.

"These coconuts traveled from Indonesian plantations to Fuzhou in under 24 hours, maintaining exceptional freshness," stated the representative from Fujian Miaotianhui Food Co., the receiving company. This inaugural import of Indonesian green coconuts represents not only a breakthrough in agricultural trade but also a significant achievement celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Fuzhou Customs implemented streamlined procedures to facilitate the import, establishing dedicated declaration channels and rapid inspection protocols to achieve "immediate inspection and clearance upon compliance." A customs official explained: "We've optimized clearance processes to ensure qualified products reach the market without delay."

The Food Exhibition notes that the Yuanhong Functional Area in Fuzhou New District is currently developing an international coconut industrial park, where four production lines have already commenced operations. Project developers noted that this successful coconut import will stimulate integrated supply chain development and deepen Sino-Indonesian collaboration in agricultural processing and trade.

Customs statistics reveal that bilateral trade reached a record 1.05 trillion yuan in 2024. The first two months of 2025 saw trade volumes hit 172.57 billion yuan, a 4.7% year-on-year increase, demonstrating robust growth momentum. This successful coconut import is expected to further expand economic cooperation between the two countries.
